Some Notes on MUSIC/SP
MUSIC/SP ("Multi-User System for Interactive
Computing / System Product")
is a medium to large-scale multi-user, multi-tasking
operating system that runs on IBM S/370 and ESA/390
mainframe computers and mainframe emulators such as
Hercules
and Sim390.
MUSIC/SP was written by
McGill University
in Montreal, during the years 1968 to 2000.
Key applications provided are
Internet access (e-mail, Web, FTP, Gopher, Newsreader),
Web server (HTTP), conferencing, teaching support,
campus-wide information systems, and program
development.
McGill University no longer supports or distributes MUSIC/SP.
However, there is an unsupported "demo" version of
MUSIC/SP made available by the author of the Sim390 mainframe emulator.
